Handbook of research on civic engagement in youth

The Handbook is both international and multidisciplinary; each chapter bringsa multidisciplinary and international perspective to its topic and also addresses policy implications. The Handbook is the final product of a multidisciplinary Consortium on Youth Political Development funded by the William T Grant Foundation The Handbook consists of three sections that respectively cover conceptual issues, developmental and educational topics, and methodological and measurement issues. It is broad in its coverage of topics in this field, and although we hesitate to use the adjective comprehensive, it is as thorough as anypublication that currently exists. Certainly it is unique in the field; thereis no comparable publication on the topic of youth civic engagement. The few other books of relevance to this topic are much more specifically focused on education or philosophy or represent the proceedings of a more focused single conference.
