This hands-on guide introduces you to Spring, the increasingly popular framework for developing enterprise Java applications. You'll learn the practical details for developing lightweight enterprise applications, including the most recent container features debuting in version 3.1. It's ideal for Java programmers experienced with the framework, as well as those just starting out. Russ Miles is a co-founder and CEO at OpenCredo, a software development best practice consultancy based in the UK. At OpenCredo Russ specializes in enterprise software development, working with many international clients to 'up their game'.Russ also regularly speaks at international conferences on subjects ranging from Agile Software Development to Cloud Computing. As well as consultancy and speaking engagements, Russ is a popular trainer and enjoys most working with clients to create bespoke workshops that maximize learning for the given organization. To ensure he has as little free time as possible, Russ also leads and contributes to a number of open source projects. Russ is a self-confessed polyglot programmer (and proud of it!) and as such can often be found contributingto an Objective C or Python project in addition to Java projects. It's all about using the right tool for the job. When he can be dragged away from his laptop, Russ enjoys playing guitar and being a husband and father, though not always necessarily in that order. Tareq Abedrabbo is a Senior Consultant and the founder of GoPragmatic. He works with the Telecom industry on various aspects of enterprise applications including architecture, web development, and data integration. He has been an enthusiastic and often early adopter of the Spring Framework and portfolio projects since 2004. He is currently a committer on the Spring Web Services project and more recently has been contributing to the Spring-WS Grails plugin.
