The latter takes into account the documented uses of manyof these compounds in Asian traditional medicine.Goutam Brahmachari obtained his Ph.D. degree vom Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan (India), where he is now an Associate Professor of Chemistry. He is the author and editor of several books, including a volume on the chemistryof natural products, and a member of the Indian Association of Cultivation ofScience (IACS). His research interests focus on chemical and biological studies of phytochemicals from medicinal plants.
